The services of the Republic change the pickup schedule and street sweeping due to the holidays

Recology follows suit with closure of offices, delayed garbage collection

FAIRFIELD – Republic Services will observe Thanksgiving Day and adjust operations accordingly in Fairfield and Suisun City.

There won’t be a Thanksgiving Day to sweep the streets. The Thursday street sweep route will be run on Monday instead and the Friday street scan route will be run on Tuesday instead.

There will be no garbage, recycling or green waste collection on Thursday. Customers with Thursday’s normal day of service will have their bins cleaned on Friday. Customers with a Friday normal day of service will have their service shifted to Saturday.

The main office of Republic Services, formerly Solano Garbage, as well as the redemption center and BPOA facilities will be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving. Normal operations will resume on Monday. BPOA facilities serve as collection sites for batteries; motor oil and cooking oil; latex paint; and antifreeze.

Household hazardous waste events will take place on the first and third Saturdays of December. These events will resume their regular schedule on the second and fourth Saturdays of January. The collection of household hazardous waste is done by appointment only. To schedule a time, call 707-437-8971.

Recology in Vacaville and Vallejo will also close on Thursday for the Thanksgiving holiday, although Recology’s offices will remain closed on Friday. Thursday routes will be collected on Friday; Friday routes will be collected on Saturday. The Recology material recovery facility will be open from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The Potrero Hills landfill operated by Waste Connections in Suisun City is closed on Thursday. The Hay Road landfill operated by Recology in Vacaville is open during regular hours on Thursday and Friday.
