Nagaland declared a state of moderate drought

Kohima, Feb 09 (PTI) The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has declared a “drought of moderate nature” across the state for six months, from September 2021 to March this year.

The NSDMA declared the “drought of a moderate nature” after taking into account conditions resulting from a rainfall deficit and poor harvest conditions, an official statement released by the Department of Information and Public Relations said on Tuesday.

It also examined the distress situation that has developed in almost the entire agricultural area affected by these conditions through field verification, according to the statement.

The NSDMA has also taken into consideration available reports from the Deputy Commissioners and Chairpersons of the relevant District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs).

Based on the sparse, below normal rainfall observed from March through November 2021, the drought declaration would come into effect on September 15, 2021 and remain in effect for six months, until further notice, the NSDMA notification said. . PTI NBS RG RG
