Florence’s Wood and Seeley-Swan’s Hoag are Republic Service Athletes of the Week | Sports

Kolbi Wood of Florence and Owen Hoag of Seeley-Swan were voted high school athletes of the week, sponsored by Republic Services.

Wood helped the Falcons win a new BC State softball title on May 28 in Lewistown. The senior shortstop was especially good in his team’s tournament win over Cut Bank on May 26. She hit two home runs – including a grand slam – in a resounding victory.

Hoag helped lead his team to a championship at the C State Track and Field Meet in Great Falls. He won the 200 meters in 22.57 and the 400 in 50.58 and he anchored the 4×400 team to a first place finish in 3:30.81.

Every week through May, the Missoulian Athletic Department nominates three boys and three girls for “Athletes of the Week” honors.

Readers can vote for a girl and a boy in the polls which appear Sunday noon at Missoulian.com. Voting is open until noon on Tuesday.

Winners are announced in the Thursday edition of the Missoulian and appear in a special advertisement, sponsored by Republic Services, each Sunday.
