Lucknow, Jan 30 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Justice Minister Brijesh Pathak on Sunday accused Samajwadi party leader Akhilesh Yadav of reneging on his 2012 poll promise to change the fate of the state and to discredit it after taking power.
The Samajwadi party had won the 2012 UP assembly elections, leading to the formation of the Yadav-led government.
“Some people are talking about bringing a change to UP today. My direct question for them is that he was made to sit in the chair (of CM) in 2012 by the people with a lot of hope. But he threw his promises in the trash,” Pathak told reporters here.
“He wrote a story that was not about change (‘badlaav’) but about discredit (‘badnaami’),” the minister added.
“During the reign of the SP, there was looting of state resources. It was the story of the looting of youth jobs. It was the story of the tyranny of goons and rioters,” he alleged.
“The height was when he accused a cabinet minister of rape,” Pathak said, apparently referring to Gayatri Prajapati.
The state justice minister also said the “actual staging” of the riots took place during the PS government’s tenure.
“Under the previous government, more than 700 riots took place in the state. Maybe the SP leader forgot about them. But not the public,” he said.
SP Patriarch Moulayam Singh Yadav’s daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav, who recently joined the BJP, said the UP was in danger before 2017.
“The BJP changed the situation with its good intention. In the past five years, there has been no scam or riot,” she said.
Aparna Yadav also mocked Congress Secretary General Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s poll slogan, “Ladhki Hoon, Ladh Sakti Hoon”.
“As many as 12 Congress workers failed to get tickets in Punjab. Congress Speaker Mahila from Uttarakhand had to face insults. Giving out slogans is not enough. You have to show it by working with good intentions,” she said. PTI NAV RAX RAX
